TIP VAN GERARD

KILLS – God Games (lp=coloured=/lp/cd) 29,95/27,95/16,95

Een kleine 20 jaar geleden zag ik The Kills in het voorprogramma van Franz Ferdinand. Ik vond het vreselijk en Franz Ferdinand was ook al niet al te best, wel een gezellige avond maar dat lag meer aan het gezelschap.
De eerlijkheid gebiedt mij te zeggen dat ik The Kills daarna volledig uit het oog ben verloren (of al had afgeschreven).
Tot nu dan, want hun onlangs verschenen cd/lp ‘God Games’ is een onverwachte meevaller. Of meevaller, het is een absolute uitschieter in de indie-rock hoek.
Nog steeds een duo bestaande uit de Amerikaanse zangeres Alisson Mosshart en de Britse gitarist Jamie Hince.
Ik had het niet gedacht, maar ‘God Games’ van the Kills wordt met elke draaibeurt beter; ik zet hem gewoon nog een keer op!
